Gestational diabetes can cause many issues for both mother and baby during pregnancy (Management). An increased risk of preeclampsia and cesarean delivery are often side effects of gestational diabetes for the mother; while in the baby macrosomia, birth trauma and hypoglycemia can occur (Management).
